23rd Annual BMW Raffle

 

As a crowd gathered at Faneuil Hall Marketplace on Friday July 29^th for Big Sister’s 23^rd Annual Raffle Drawing, hopeful last minute buyers had to be turned away. For the first time in the raffle’s history, all 1,750 tickets sold out beforehand, raising more than $163,000 to support our mentoring programs and setting a new record for the event.

 

As the clock struck 1 p.m., Little Sister Jazmine, 19, accompanied by her Big Sister Marie Doehler, pulled lucky ticket #1411.

 

The winner, Wayne O’Hara of Somerville was certainly shocked when he received the call from our Director of Development Alexis Bulkley, but was quiet and reserved when he arrived at Faneuil Hall 20 minutes later.

 

“Hi, I’m Wayne,” he said simply.

 

Despite being impressed by the car’s many features, with retirement on the horizon, he decided to take the $38,000 cash prize.

 

Little Sister Jazmine and her Big Sister Marie, who have been matched for four years, were joined by Big Sister Diane Ivey and her Little Sister Tiffany, who have been together for two years. The Little Sisters took turns drawing the tickets for the grand prize and runner up prizes.
