Big Sister Association of Greater Boston was founded in 1951 with the mission of helping girls realize their full potential by providing them with positive mentoring relationships with women. By placing friendship in the path of risk through a mentor, girls in our programs learn to reject negative behaviors and embrace more positive choices for their futures. Big Sister’s mentoring programs serve girls ages 7 to 20 in Boston and the 69 cities and towns that make up Greater Boston. Our mentoring programs focus exclusively on girls’ needs – from how we recruit mentors to how we train and support them over time – so that mentoring relationships can be lasting and impactful. Big Sister Association of Greater Boston is an inaugural partner member of the quality-based membership program of the Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) and received the award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management by the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN) in 2009. Big Sister is an equal opportunity employer and maintains a work environment free from discrimination based on race, color, religious creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital, military or veteran status with regard to any term or condition of employment.
