You can become a Big Sister by following the five simple steps listed below!  Learn what it means to become a Big Sister
Complete our online orientation or call 617.236.8060 to speak with a Big Sister staff member by phone.
- Apply
After completing an online or in-person or phone orientation, the next step is to fill out an application. Once your application has been submitted, a Big Sister staff member will contact you within 48 hours* to schedule an interview.
- Interview
Meet with a Big Sister social worker. This is our chance to get to know you so that we can make the best match possible between you and your future Little Sister.
- Attend Training
Big Sister is proud to offer training to anyone who volunteers in our programs. It will give you the tools to become a great Big Sister.
- Get Matched!
Your last step in becoming a Big Sister is to actually be matched with a Little Sister. We take what we know about you, compare it with what we know about your prospective Little Sister, and make a match based on shared interests, experiences and expectations. Your Big Sister social worker will then organize a meeting between you, your Little Sister and her family. After this initial meeting takes place, you and your Little Sister can embark on your newfound friendship!
