On Saturday, November 8th, 500 Big Sister community members including Massachusetts Governor-Elect Charlie Baker and Boston’s Mayor Martin J. Walsh gathered to celebrate Greater Boston’s girls and the mark Believe in Girls (B.I.G.) award recipient Jack Connors, Jr. has made on our city.
Guests at the event also had the opportunity to hear about the transformative power of mentoring from Big Sister Melissa York and her Little Sister Danielle Thompson who have been matched for 12 years: “I’m not sure how my life would have turned out if my grandmother had not called to find me a Big Sister. But I do know, with Melissa in my corner, I can do anything.”

Hosted by Event Chairs Dr. Ralph de la Torre and John Fish with Emcee Lisa Hughes of WBZ-TV, the event raised over $1.1 million; a new record high for Big in Boston!
