On Sunday evening, an intimate crowd of 85 guests gathered at Stella Restaurant in the South End for Big Sister Boston’s 16th Annual Celebrity Chef Dinner, where some of the city’s hottest chefs dazzled palates with a delightful six-course meal. Generously hosted by Stella owner, Chef Evan Deluty, and emceed by our board member and WBZ-TV news anchor Lisa Hughes, the event raised nearly $150,000 to benefit Big Sister Boston’s mentoring and enrichment programs for girls.
Dishes ranging from fluke crudo to a pecan tart with espresso gelato were prepared by chefs Evan Deluty of Stella and 29 Sudbury, Dante de Magistris of il Casale and Restaurant dante, Louis DiBiccari of Tavern Road, Tiffani Faison of Sweet Cheeks and Tiger Mama, Colin Lynch formerly of BL Gruppo, and Marc Orfaly of The Beehive.
Big Sister Talia Doucette and Little Sister Leila, who have been matched for nearly three years, brought the impact of our work to life as they shared their heartfelt, personal story in a live interview with Lisa Hughes. Generous guests, inspired by Talia and Leila’s transformational relationship, made contributions that will allow us to match and support many of the 400 girls currently waiting for a Big Sister of their own.
We would like to thank Chef Evan Deluty, his staff, and all of Sunday night’s celebrity chefs for their hospitality and an exceptional dinner. Evan is a veteran of several Celebrity Chef Dinners that have been hosted by Chef Michael Schlow for the past 15 years. We are indebted to Chef Schlow for making this dinner the cornerstone event it has become and passing the torch to Evan this year to carry on the tradition. We also wish to extend a huge thank you to our event chairs, Marc Crisafulli and Mariann Youniss!
