Wellesley Hills resident Eneida Roman has been named the 2014 Massachusetts Big Sister of the Year and is in the running for National Big Sister of the Year.
Roman was honored for her devotion and service to her Little Sister, 16-year-old Migleila South Boston. They have been matched for more than nine years together.
“Eneida has been an important role model for Migleila’s education. Now that Migleila has turned 16, Eneida is helping her to set educational goals beyond high school and started taking her on college campus tours, continuing to share in the excitement about Migleila’s next milestone in her life.,” says Heidi Ziobro, Vice President of Programs for Big Sister Association of Greater Boston
Roman is also a founding member of the Diversity Council, so more Latina girls can benefit from the mentoring experience. She supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s Hispanic Mentoring Initiative through her Board position on the Hispanic National Bar Association, and in 2013, Roman became a Big Sister Board member.
If Roman is chosen by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as the national winner, she and Migleila will visit the White House to meet President Obama and travel to Chicago in June to be honored at the national conference.
