Big In Boston 2019: We Came. We Celebrated. We Remixed!

Posted 11/18/2019

It was an honor to be joined by 400 of our friends, both old and new, for Big in Boston: The Remix on Saturday, November 16, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The room was awash in purple and filled with joy, laughter, music and dancing. Co-chairs Robert Popeo, Chairman of Mintz and Tiffani Faison, Top Chef finalist and chef/owner of Sweet Cheeks BBQ, Tiger Mama, Fool’s Errand and Orfano, friends and colleagues, and our President & CEO Deb Re, accompanied by a group of Little Sisters, gave tribute to our Believe in Girls honoree, Deborah Daccord, who is a partner at Mintz, former Chair of Big Sister Boston’s Board of Directors, a tireless advocate and philanthropic supporter of our work, and a volunteer in both our Big for a Day and New Girls Network programs.

During the program, presided over by fan favorite, WBZ-TV/CBS Boston news anchor, Lisa Hughes, the story of Little Sister Thelma, her mother Maria, and her Big Sister Elle, with whom she’s been matched for 20 years, brought down the house. Through the support of our organization and her Big Sister, Thelma recently achieved her dream of becoming a Boston Police Officer. Experience their story in the video below.

Mayor Marty Walsh and Tiffani Faison got the room 100% invested in girls, helping us raise a total of $950,000 in support of our gender-intentional, one-to-one mentoring and enrichment programs.
