Big in Boston 2023

Posted 11/17/2023

On November 15, we joined in community with more than 300 friends to celebrate Big Sister! Big in Boston: Power Their Potential, was held at The 521 Overlook at Fenway and raised more than $1.3 million from so many generous individuals, corporations, and foundations who believe in the power of mentorship and the special role Big Sister plays in the lives of so many girls and young women.

Lisa Hughes, WBZ-TV’s anchor and Big Sister board member, served as the event’s emcee, and the evening featured remarks from Governor Maura Healey and State Representative Brandy Fluker-Oakley, honorary co-hosts of the event.

During the program, Big and Little Sisters shared their stories via video and live on stage as we celebrated the positive impact of mentoring relationships that have been formed in just 7 short months, all the way up to 25 years!

The evening culminated with a presentation of the Deborah Re Believe in Girls Award to the Women’s Foundation of Boston, in recognition for all that they do to support young women through their grantmaking. Former Big Sister President and CEO Deb Re presented the award and Big Sister Christine and Little Sister Jakyra interviewed Women’s Foundation of Boston co-founders Christina Gordon and Kim Boucher. Following the award presentation, guests danced the night away to the music performed by The Femmes.

It was a night to remember! Thank you to all our Big in Boston guests and those who gave to the Power Their Potential campaign. Thank you for showing up for Greater Boston’s girls and women!

Don’t forget to place your bids for our silent auction! Items include a Red Sox experience, VIP tickets to the Late Show with Steve Colbert, a tour of WBZ plus dinner at Rare, and an Alice Cooper autographed guitar! Bidding will be open through November 28th, Giving Tuesday.
