Posted 02/03/2015

Our CEO, Deborah Re, was honored with the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award for Achievement in Management of a Nonprofit. These awards honor business and professional women who have demonstrated excellence in entrepreneurship, management, and lifetime achievement. More than 1,300 of Boston’s business and community leaders attended, as it is one of the premiere gatherings of women and men in the region.

Deb was nominated for this award by the late Mayor Tom Menino for her dedication to the growth of Big Sister Association and the girls of Greater Boston. Since Deb stepped into her role as CEO, Big Sister has seen a 32% increase in revenue and a 20% increase in number of girls served.

As Deb said in her acceptance speech, “I heard the same messages that girls still hear today. Messages that become roadblocks for so many women. I believe it’s up to us to change these messages so that girls growing up today don’t hear they aren’t good enough. We need girls to know they are more than enough.”
