National Mentoring Month 2012

Posted 01/25/2012

On January 25th, more than 200 guests filled the Oval Room at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in celebration of our Big Sisters of the Year, Community Partner of the Year, and Corporate Partner of the Year.  Guests heard wonderful stories from Big Sisters and Little Sisters, shared laughs and memories, and enjoyed great food, an exciting raffle, and music by the sensational Aisling Peartree!

Big Sister of the Year Katy Shea told us, “I am grateful and honored to be a mentor at Big Sister because they provide an opportunity for girls to build sincere and supportive relationships that foster trust and encourage Bigs and Littles alike to realize their full potential.”

Congratulations again to our Big Sisters of the Year: Katherine Shea, Diane Ivey and Jessica Reardon, our Corporate Partner of the Year, Liberty Mutual Insurance and our Community Partner of the Year, Bic Lam of the Montclair School. Accepting on behalf of Liberty Mutual Insurance, José Rosado said, “Big Sister reminds us to take the power of our influence seriously; they encourage us to embrace a child’s inherent beauty; they convince us that in a sometimes, cold world, one caring person can make all the difference; and they make us people of hope—people who see the potential and the possibilities in a girl’s life and the power of someone coming up alongside her to spur her on and lift her up.”

We look forward to deeper relationships and more partnerships as we embark on our 61st year of serving girls in Greater Boston.
